CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Plastic Art Performance Collective, an eco-art initiative group, is calling for participation in the eco-performative workshop training within Yagoria project.
Between May 25 and June 7, 2022, five theoretical and practical workshops will be held, led by interdisciplinary artists and creators.
The workshops will take place both online and in person, in green spaces in Bucharest.
🐍 DESCRIPTION (summary)
Built at the intersection of visions and practices such as performance, art therapy, design, ethnology, dance, and branding, the eco-training program proposes, on the one hand, the assimilation and experimentation of the artistic language developed in YAGORIA, which situates the body as a process in the “symbiotic real” (the inseparable connection and co-participation in the ecosphere being the essential component of eco-performance); and on the other hand, it supports, through sets of useful means, the development of artists at the beginning of their journey.
🧫 GOAL
- familiarization with the concepts and practice of “eco-performance,” an artistic language and theoretical framework introduced internationally by the Taanteatro Company (Brazil)
- disseminating the documentation and working methodology of the interdisciplinary YAGORIA project (performance, ethnology, visual arts, sustainability, and environmental concerns)
- supporting young artists at the beginning of their careers by helping them acquire new skills, abilities, and theoretical and practical knowledge.
🦚 BENEFICIARY PROFILE
- young people at the beginning of their careers (aged 18-25), including students at universities with an artistic and performing arts profile: choreography, set design, theater, directing, etc., young people with a background in or interest in ethnology, ritual performance, Balkan customs, designers, makers, product creators who want to develop their knowledge and sustainable practices, as well as artists interested in exploring the concept of eco-performance
- young artists working independently or within artistic groups or collectives
- people of any age interested in the intersection of the arts with ecology, with concerns about the environment, sustainability, activist art, with eco-political implications and art-manifesto
- environmental activists interested in the bridges that culture and art can build for a different kind of understanding/mediation of the environmental crisis through artistic and performative language
🥼 SELECTION CRITERIA
– Proof of belonging to one of the target groups described above
– CV/bio/portfolio/letter of intent
– Willingness to participate in the two online sessions – check-in and check-out (opening and conclusions), described below

THE YAGORIA PROJECT IS CO-FINANCED BY AFCN (NATIONAL CULTURAL FUND ADMINISTRATION) and coordinated by the Macaia Association.
The project is run by Plastic Art Performance Collective, an artistic group formed under the umbrella of the Macaia Cultural Association, which draws attention to collective waste and issues such as the global plastic crisis and pollution from single-use items, climate change, and abusive interventions such as illegal deforestation—issues addressed through an artistic lens.
